TCI Design Assistant

Traver Construction is looking to grow our team with the addition of a Design Assistant who will also serve as a Project Coordinator.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in residential remodeling.

Job Description

  • Work with designer to create and revise floor plans, exterior elevations, electrical plans and detailed interior elevations in Chief Architect, AutoCAD or Revit

  • Survey existing spaces—measure on-site dimensions, document design characteristics, take photos for reference

  • Create and manage project timelines within BuilderTrend

  • Collaborate with prospective customers and designer (as applicable) on project materials and finishes selections; visit product showrooms and suppliers as needed

  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, trade partners, and other design disciplines

  • Create and revise all schedules and scopes of work

  • Review plans with energy/green inspectors

  • Create meeting agendas, take notes during meetings, and provide notes to the design team

  • Coordinate trade partner walk-throughs

  • Develop and disseminate all relevant and accurate information to trades and suppliers

  • Review subcontractor bids, labor needs, and material needs for each project, and analyze trade and/or material quotes for completeness and accuracy

  • Enter all costing information into proposal

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to oversee ordering and distribution of materials

  • Develop and track change orders as needed

  • Communicate with Project Manager and Designer before and during the remodeling project as needed

  • Assist with updating and maintaining digital and physical selection resource library

  • Document billable hours and keep log of project timelines

  • Assist in administrative duties as necessary

Skills

  • Knowledge of design process and residential construction, including experience with space planning and reviewing construction documentation

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit and ability to produce plans and elevations

  • Clear oral and written communication

  • Highly detail oriented

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects with different timelines

  • Ability to be flexible and to anticipate project needs and direction

  • Knowledge of Google Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Mac platform a plus

Education and Experience

  • CAD drafting experience required

  • 1-3 years experience in residential construction preferred

  • College degree in architecture, design, construction management, or related field preferred

  • High school diploma required
